For centuries women have been able to get their way at the bat of an eyelash.
The secret to beautiful eyes is in the bottle, but finding a mascara that can give you clump-free, long, luscious lashes, can be a difficult task!
I am often complimented on my lashes no matter what mascara I am wearing. This made me curious if my expensive mascara purchase from Sephora was really better than my favourite drugstore brand. I wanted to know if it was worth investing almost $30 on a mascara. So I put three popular mascaras, from different prince ranges, to the test. I was surprised by the results!
The mascaras I thought I would love, I was only lusting for because they didn’t live up to my expectations.
Before trying Bad Gal Lash by Benefit Cosmetics, I had been lusting over it for months. I heard tales of amazing voluminous lashes and I was tempted to try. This mascara is available at some drugstores and Sephora.
I love Benefit Cosmetics and their adorable packaging, but I was disappointed by Bad Gal Lash. The brush is huge and quite intimidating. Once I figured out how to manoeuvre the beast of a brush, I did like how it applied. The mascara delivered fuller lashes, but sadly the mascara has a tendency to flake. Whenever I wore this mascara I would look in the mirror to see beautiful lashes, but not so beautiful black specks around my eyes and on my cheeks. No one wants mascara anywhere else on their face, but on their eyelashes!
Next I upped the anti and indulged myself in D.J.V. Beautenizer Volume Lash from Sephora. After trying Bad Gal Lash, I was enticed by the promises of fuller lashes without the flakes.
When I first started using this mascara I thought I had hit the jackpot. It separated my eyelashes, went on easily, and kept its promise of no flakes. With one brush stroke it looked like I had applied five brush strokes, without any clumping! Unfortunately, after about a month of using this mascara it began to dry out. It dried out so much I could barely put it on. Sadly, I had to toss it and my excitement of finding the perfect mascara into the garbage.
After being disappointed by trying new mascaras time and time again, I also look forward to returning to my old favourite. I have featured this mascara on my blog before, recommending it for it’s ability to achieve big lashes without paying big bucks. Voluminous Original Mascara by L’Oreal has been, and probably will always be, my go-to mascara. Despite its drugstore title, it really does beat out its competition. L’Oreal delivers thick lashes without the guilt of overspending.
So take it from me, when it comes to mascara the price tag doesn’t matter. I might continue to cheat on my go-to mascara, but I always come back to it at the end of the day. Voluminous Original Mascara is definitely my secret to long, luscious lashes! You should give it a try too and let me know what you think!
Until next time….
