Couture and crumpets at the Chateau Laurier

At the historic Fairmont Chateau Laurier on Friday, Baroque music could be heard below the chatter and applause from the women enjoying tea, crumpets and the stunning models showing off Ottawa designer Elena Hinke’s latest collection from Elena’s Creations Fashion House.

The glamorous morning was organized by the Canadian Federation of University Women of Ottawa and presented by the Diplomatic Hospitality group.

Some of the pieces Hinke showcased at the hotel were familiar from Ottawa Fashion Week, but Tom Hinke, Elena’s husband, was eager explain that most of the garments were created especially for the 100th year celebration of the Fairmont Chateau Laurier.

Elena Hinke wanted to create a collection that would appeal to the diplomatic audience invited to the fashion show, said Tom Hinke, adding that the Governor General’s wife was asked to attend.

“This line is geared more towards Hollywood types, celebrities, and royalty,” he said.

It was easy to imagine the intricate gowns on the red carpet in one of many elegant ballrooms at the hotel accessorized with sparkly chandeliers and lavish carpets.

Get a little taste of the lovely morning by checking out some of the photos I took before, during and after the show!

Thanks again to Models International Management for the invitation to photograph the fashion show Friday morning!

Until next time…
